Europe Day 1: Amsterdam

We arrived in Amsterdam around 1:00pm, and it was an easy train ride and walk to our hotel in the heart of the city.   We were kind of beat by our travels, but managed to take a canal tour, walk around a little and eat at a fine Italian restaurant before retiring for the night.  Vera even found a quilt shop along the way, but it was closed for the evening.

It is a city of canals and bicycles.  On our canal cruise, we passed a three story bicycle "garage", packed with over 2500 bicycles.  They are very excited about soccer right now, with soccer themes everwhere.

Museums are on the agenda for tomorrow.

2500 bicycles in 3 stories

More bridges and house boats than you can count.

"Magic Mushroom" store

Besides soccer, mushrooms and bicycles, the Dutch seem to like their cheese: 3 stories worth in this case.

Restaurant greeter.

Smiles after dinner.
