Our tour didn't start until 4:00 pm today, so we spent some time beforehand walking around. Actually, a lot of climbing around, as there were many steps.
Vera at the Campo de Fiori market.
Lots of interesting vegetables, cheeses, etc., etc.
The Roman Forum
Sisto bridge across the Tiber. The 40 ft walls are to protect Rome from frequent flooding. Much of Ancient Rome is now buried by years of human garbage and frequent Tiber flooding.
Yesterday's word: Gattare or "cat women"
In modern times Largo Argentina became a cat sanctuary, promoted by the local gattare(i.e cat women). The cats have become a nuisance to the locals, and the population is now down to only a few. Gatto, by the way, is cat in Italian.
Tomorrow's word: Gabbiano
Hint: It's an animal common around the world.
