We traveled from Dingle to Galway today, stopping at a few very interesting sights.
After a short ferry boat ride, we proceeded to our first stop, the Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs are one of Ireland's most iconic landmarks, and the weather was clear and sunny. Unfortunately, the wind was howling. If you look closely, you can see people at the top of the highest point.
The trail follows along the top of the cliff, separated by stone slabs.
Lots of warning signs, but the views are fantastic.
Our second stop was the Burren (pronounced "burn"). They are limestone outcroppings that cover much of this part of Ireland. They seem to go on forever. Believe it or not, people raise cattle on this stuff. There are grassy areas, but the cattle have to make their way through these barren flats to get there. There are lots of crevices to fall into, many hidden by vegetation. The Burren was shaped by glaciers, wind and water. This spider was hiding in one of those deep cracks. As always, our local guide was informative and very enthusiastic.
