Rotorua is famous for geysers, hot springs and volcanos. Rotorua and Lake Roturua are actually inside a huge volcanic crater, the volcano having blown its top long ago (much like Yellowstone). We took a luge ride down the side of the crater, saw a New Zealand farming exhibition, rode the "Duck" and then had dinner at the Te Puia thermal area and Maori(pronounced almost like "Mary") cultural center. The last picture is of the wool from the sheep that was shorn for us in Rotorua. Masterton, where we stay tomorrow, holds the New Zealand sheep shearing contest every year. The record is 45 seconds, which is the average time over 9 hours.
