We boarded our bus this morning and headed for the Gargano Peninsula, with a two hour stop at Emperor Hadrian's villa in Tivoli.
Hadrian's villa is only a few miles out of Rome, and a great place to explore Roman ruins. Hadrian was emperor of Rome at its peak. You've probably heard of Hadrian's Wall separating England and Scotland. He took 20 years to build his villa, spent only 4 years living here, and retired somewhere else only to die a few years later of cirrhosis of the liver.
Some of the pools have been restored.
Like Rome, most of the artwork has been re-utilized somewhere else, but a few things remain.
It was getting dark when we arrived in Vieste on the Gargano Penninsula, but I was able to take this picture looking back towards our hotel. Our meal tonight, all 5 courses, was the best so far. Looking forward to tomorrow.
