Dave just returned from a fishing trip to Belize, and here are a few notes and pictures from that trip.
He fished out of El Pescador, a fishing resort near San Pedro, Belize. El Pescador is located on Ambergris Caye, Belize’s largest island and located just south of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.
An example of the great meals presented under an outdoor canopy with waves lapping the nearby beach.
We fished two to a boat along with a guide. Bonefish were the primary target, but we did have a shot at an occasional barracuda or permit. These fish are in shallow water and except for the barracuda, hard to see. That's where the guides are so important. They work hard, using a pole to move us silently through the water, all the while on the lookout for fish we seldom saw. Casting a fly to the fish is tough. They are easily spooked, the wind is a constant hassle and the hook set is totally different from what we were used to. And the guides were not bashful about pointing out our numerous casting faults.
