20 years ago Vera and I were celebrating our marriage and getting ready for a honeymoon in Alaska. It was August 28, and in celebration, we are spending the next few days at the "Inn at Langley" on Whidbey Island. Alexander and Therese gave us a gift certificate for Christmas, and this helped pay for the stay.
Langley is on nearby Whidbey Island. We took our time driving to Langley so as to take in the views. In the contiguous 48 states, only Long Island, NY is larger. Here is a view at Ebey State Park looking across Puget Sound at the Olympic Mountains.
An interesting tree we found at Whidbey State Park.
Vera is making her way up a trail that is much steeper than this picture shows. Notice the dry conditions. Washington has numerous micro climates, and it is much dryer on this part of Whidbey than Mount Vernon.
Dave and Asta catching their breath after that steep hill climb.
You see the strangest things on Smugglers Cove Road. We saw these in someone's front yard.
Sunrise as seen from the deck of our room.
It was a great trip and the weather was perfect.
