As I said, this is not a wilderness experience. Barkerville Brewery is located in Quesnel, and offers a fine selection of local brew. It was our favorite place to stop after a hard day of fishing. And you always want to try out the local beer.
Actually, it does become quite a wilderness experience if you drive a few miles out of town. One evening we drove up to Barkerville in hopes of seeing some wildlife. Barkerville is on the way to Bowron Lakes Provincial Park, which is a world renowned wilderness canoeing area. Barkerville itself is a former mining town, but now a ghost town being converted to a historical area.
The old cemetery.
